Fade Smoothly From One Slide to the Next

In addition to adding a Fade animation to the color photo to change from black and white to color, you will want to make smooth transitions from one slide to the next.

PowerPoint 2007
  1. On the Animations tab of the ribbon, select the Fade Smoothly transition.
  2. Set the transition speed to Medium if it is not already set.
  3. Set the slide to advance Automatically After: and choose the appropriate number of seconds for one slide to advance to the next. In this example I chose to advance the slide after 7 seconds.
  4. Click the Apply to All button.
  5. Lastly, to add a more polished look to your presentation, you may want to end your slide show with a black slide.

PowerPoint 2003 and earlier
  1. Choose Slide Show > Slide Transition
  2. Scroll in the list in the task pane on the right of the screen to select Fade Smoothly.
  3. Change the speed of the transition to Medium.
  4. In the Advance slide section, use the arrows to select approximately 7 seconds (more or less is fine depending on your selection of pictures), or type the number in manually.
  5. Click the Apply to All Slides button.
  6. Lastly, to add a more polished look to your presentation, you may want to end your slide show with a black slide.
