The third color option - Fill Effects - allows you to create color gradients, select textured or patterned backgrounds, or set a picture for your slide background.
Gradient Colors can be created using one or two colors or you can choose one of the preset color choices that come with PowerPoint, such as Early Sunset or Calm Waters.
