PowerPoint Viewer

By Wendy Russell, About.com

Definition: The PowerPoint Viewer is a small add-in program from Microsoft. It allows for a PowerPoint presentation to be played on any computer, even those that do not have PowerPoint installed. It can run as a separate program on your computer and can be added to the list of files when you choose to package your presentation to a CD.

This feature is called Package for CD in PowerPoint 2007 and 2003 and Pack and Go in PowerPoint 2000 and earlier.

Examples: Mary was getting her presentation ready to play on another computer. She made sure she added the PowerPoint Viewer when she used the Pack and Go feature in PowerPoint.
