Plug-In

Definition: A small program that works from within a larger application program. A plug-in has limited features but only requires limited memory resources. It cannot operate on its own. Plug-ins are written in the Java programming language.

Examples: John was able to download a plug-in program for PowerPoint from the internet. The plug-in program allowed him to import artwork created in Photoshop.
