A reader in the Presentation Software Forum asked about pausing music during a PowerPoint show.
Note - For some reason this process would only work for me using PowerPoint 2010. Using the same slide show in versions 2003 and 2007, the music did not stop when the slide paused on the screen.
Pausing the Slide Show
While you are in the middle of your PowerPoint 2010 presentation and wish to pause the slide show, perhaps to answer a question from the audience, the simplest way is to use a shortcut key. Choose either of these two options:
Note - The shortcut letter keys listed below are not case sensitive. I just used capital letters for emphasis.
- Press the W key on the keyboard.
- A plain white screen will appear and the slide show and music will pause.
- Press the W key once again to resume the show.
- Press the B key on the keyboard.
- A plain black screen will appear and the slide show and music will pause.
- Press the B key once again to resume the show.
What About the Music?
When you press the shortcut key for the second time (to resume the slide show) the music will start playing from near where it left off -- (it starts about 3 or 4 seconds before the point where you paused the show).
