By default, PowerPoint includes the PowerPoint Viewer in all packaging for CD. The PowerPoint Viewer is a small add-in program by Microsoft that will allow this presentation to be played on any computer, even those computers that do not have PowerPoint installed.

Also by default, PowerPoint will include all linked files in your presentation. For example, if you have chosen to include a chart that was created in Microsoft Excel, the Excel file has been linked from the PowerPoint presentation. This file will be needed in order for that slide in the presentation to show correctly. PowerPoint recognizes this and therefore includes this file in the package.

It is a good idea to check the option for Embedded True Type fonts. Embedding the True Type fonts ensures that any font you have chosen for your presentation will display correctly on the screen, even if the computer showing the presentation does not have that font installed.

Note - Any True Type fonts used in your presentation that have a built-in copyright protection, cannot be packaged.

Password Protection

The options for password protection should be used with care. This feature is often used when the presentation contains sensitive or confidential material, but in general is not necessary.

Password to open each file - When the viewer tries to open the presentation and does not have the necessary password, he will not be able to open the presentation.

Password to modify each file - When the viewer tries to open the presentation and does not have the necessary password to modify, he may open the presentation in "Read Only" mode. He will be able to view the presentation but will not be able to make any modifications.
