Scanning Pictures and Precious Documents

Scanned pictures are used in many a presentation these days, but scanning your memories into digital form is one of the best ways you can preserve them for posterity. Just remember to keep the final scans somewhere other than your own home/office as a fire will surely destroy the computer, CD or DVD you save them too. A safety deposit box is probably the best place for your treasures.

What is Important to Know About Scanning

  1. Depending on the reason for scanning your photos you may sort very differently. The main thing to remember is to take great care with the pictures as some may be very frail.

  2. Scanning is not limited to pictures. Don't forget about documents such as old love letters, certificates, Grandma's hand written recipes, or other precious mementos. Paper easily deteriorates with time, but having a scanned copy will allow you to retain this remembrance for always. There is no end to the things you can scan.
