Pattern Backgrounds are Not the Best Choice on PowerPoint Slides

I am reminded of the comment that goes something like ... "Just because you can do something does not mean that you should." A case in point is using a pattern as a PowerPoint slide background.

The option to use a pattern for a background is certainly available in PowerPoint. However, in my opinion this should be your last choice and only then use a pattern that is as subtle as possible, so as not to distract the audience from your message.

Add a Pattern Background to Your Slides

1. With the Fill section chosen, click on Pattern fill


2. Click on the Foreground Color: button to choose a color.


3. Click on the Background Color: button to choose a color.


4. Click on various pattern options to see the effect on your slide.


5. When you have made your final choice, click Close to apply to this one slide or click Apply to All.
