Apply the Design Theme to the New Presentation

  1. Apply color scheme to one slide only

** Make sure you have completed the steps on the previous page.
    • Click on the Format Painter button on the Home tab of the ribbon to activate it.

    • (Don't miss this step) - Click anywhere in the window or on the title bar of the new presentation to make it the active presentation.

    • Click on the thumbnail version of the slide in the Outline / Slides pane. The formatting is applied to the new slide.
  2. Apply color scheme to several slides

** Make sure you have completed the steps on the previous page.
    • Double click on the Format Painter button on the Home tab of the ribbon to activate. (Double clicking allows you to apply the formatting to more than one slide.)

    • (Don't miss this step) - Click anywhere in the window or on the title bar of the new presentation to make it the active presentation.

    • Click on the thumbnail version of each of the slides in the Outline / Slides pane. The formatting is applied to the new slides.

This animated video shows the steps to perform this task, as well as screen shots of the completed slides with the new color fomatting applied. PowerPoint 2003 is used in the video, but the concept is the same for PowerPoint 2007.

Important Note - Changes made to individual slides in the original presentation (such as font changes) do not change the design theme of that presentation. Therefore, graphic objects or font changes added to individual slides would not copy over to a new presentation. For these change to happen, edits need to be made to the Master Slide(s) of that original presentation.
