In PowerPoint 2007 (and in fact all of the Office 2007 programs), the menus and toolbars in all earlier versions have been replaced by the ribbon. The ribbon is considerably larger than the earlier toolbars, and can sometimes take up valuable real estate on the screen. Therefore, it is sometimes advantageous to hide the ribbon to give more working room while you design your presentation.
To Hide the Ribbon
- Double click on any one of the ribbon tabs - such as Home, Insert, or Design.
OR - Press the Ctrl + F1 keys on the keyboard.
Only the ribbon tabs will be left showing above your presentation. You may edit your slides with the ribbon hidden from view, or if need be, you can toggle between revealing the ribbon again to switch to another option, by clicking on the appropriate ribbon tab. This acts like an "on-off" switch. Once you click anywhere in the slide, the ribbon hides itself again.
To Show and Keep the Ribbon Visible Once Again
- Double click on any one of the ribbon tabs - such as Home, Insert, or Design.
OR - Press the Ctrl + F1 keys on the keyboard a second time.
