Why Make the PowerPoint Picture Background Transparent?

The picture from the PowerPoint clipboard is now shown on the slide. It may be far to bright or busy to be an effective slide background, as it would be too distracting for the other content to be the focus. In that case you have the option to make this photo transparent, yet still visible.

  1. In the Format Background dialog box, drag the Transparency slider to the right. Watch the preview of the picture to see when the transparency is just right.
  2. Click on the Close button to apply to all the selected slides or click the Apply to All button to add this picture as a slide background for all slides.

Note - Other options you may consider in the Format Background dialog box are to tile the picture multiple times across the slide or to choose a specific location for the photo by using the Offsets: options.
