Start Another Event by Using a PowerPoint Trigger

Note - These instructions are written and show screen captures for PowerPoint 2010. However the steps are basically the same for all versions of PowerPoint, so you can easily follow the steps for your version of the program.

PowerPoint triggers are useful for the purpose of clicking on one object which then starts another event.

In this example lesson, you will add clip art or images to the slide (the triggers), followed by adding music files to the same PowerPoint presentation. When the slide show plays, the viewer then clicks on the graphic image and a musical selection will play.

Let's get started.

  1. Change the background color of the slide if desired. For this exercise, it is better to choose a solid color background.
  2. Follow the steps in this tutorial to add clip art or images to the PowerPoint slides.
