The Shift Key is Important When Resizing Photos
- Click once on the picture to select it.
- Hover your mouse over one of the corner selection handles until your mouse pointer changes to a two-headed arrow. This two-headed arrow is a resize arrow in all programs dealing with graphic objects. It is important to use the corner selection handle in order to drag both the side and the top of the picture at the same time.
Important Tip - In order to retain the proportions of your photo, hold down the Shift key on the keyboard at the same time as you hover your mouse over the resize handle on the picture corner. If you do not hold the Shift key, the picture will be stretched so that the end result looks askew.
- As you drag the mouse, while holding the Shift key, you will see a dotted outline of the new picture size. When you release the mouse, the picture will be resized.
