Why Would I Use a Slide Design Template?
OpenOffice Impress has a limited number of design templates included with the program. Two of these templates will help you to color coordinate your slide show, while the remaining two templates are designed as presentation starters (for recommending a strategy or introducing a product).
Templates are usually applied to the entire presentation giving it a unified look. Having background colors or fonts change from one slide to the next during a presentation can distract your audience from the information on the slides.
OpenOffice Impress is not limited to these templates however. You can use any design template from PowerPoint and continue on with creating your presentation, or you can design your own template to use.
