Definition: The area on an image map that is used as a hyperlink to another action. Actions can include moving to another slide in the presentation, starting another program, playing a sound or opening a Web page on the internet.
Also Known As: invisible hyperlink, transparent hyperlink, invisible button
Alternate Spellings: hot spot
Examples: Mary clicked on the dress in the photograph and a new Web page opened displaying dresses. The dress in the original photograph was a hotspot to the other Web site.
