Using their Webquest research information, students will use PowerPoint to create a Web site on their findings.

The following Five PowerPoint Tutorials will take students through all the steps necessary to complete their Web site.

Note - These instructional tutorials can be used to create a Web site on any topic. For the purpose of this multimedia lesson plan in Web page design, the illustrations shown are those pertaining to the Virtual Amazing Race.

Creating a Web Site Using PowerPoint
  1. Edit the Slide Master In PowerPoint
    • Replace fonts for the whole presentation
    • Reduce font sizes
    • Use the drawing tools to add a banner heading and logo
    • Change default font for all slides
    • Add a text box for Web page content
    • Align text box placeholders
    • Copy the finished slide to make nine identical slides
    • Edit the titles of each slide for the appropriate content

  2. Create a Home Page for the Web Site
    • Look at the Title Master
    • Create a Home page for the Web site using the Title slide
    • Add a Logo for the Web site
    • Use drawing tools to create link buttons
    • Label the link buttons

  3. Create Invisible Hyperlinks on the Home Page of the Web Site
    • Use the drawing tools to create link buttons on the Home page
    • Hyperlink each link button to the appropriate slide
    • Make the link buttons invisible

  4. Create a Navigation Bar on the Slide Master
    • Add text links for the navigation bar
    • Change the bulleted type
    • Add a Home page link to the navigation bar
    • Link the text to the appropriate slide
    • Remove the default text placeholder from each slide

  5. Save the PowerPoint Presentation as a Web Page
    • Select the different options to save as a Web page
      • Save as a single Web page, or
      • Save as .HTML Web page

Evaluation

The Web site presentation will demonstrate the student’s ability to use PowerPoint software as a Web page design tool in the working environment.

The Webquest research findings shown on each Web page of the Web site will convey his/her basic knowledge and understanding of three health related topics as well as six topics of their own interest. The completed Web site will convey that the student has successfully used PowerPoint as a Web page design tool to create a Web site that could be shown on the Internet.

Sample Students' Work
