Why Doesn't the PowerPoint Source Formatting Stay When I Copy and Paste?

When copying text from one PowerPoint presentation to another, you are able to retain the formatting already applied to the text. Perhaps you have assigned a required color, font size and specific font to the text. Rather than reapply all these features in a new presentation, perhaps with a different design theme, you can just retain the source formatting. The trick (or it seems to me that this is a "glitch" on the part of PowerPoint.. but let's not go there), is in how you paste the text into the new presentation.
